Safford Memorial (or Pine Ridge or Dedham) Animal Care and Adoption Center is located on the 27 acre Dedham site. Along with housing and adopting small animals, this site serves as a livestock rehabilitation center for large animals. Pine Ridge Cemetery, also located at the Dedham site, is the oldest continuously operated pet cemetery by a humane society in the United States.

Please note that construction work is taking place on Pine St. near our Dedham shelter. For this week we believe that guests will not be able to access Pine St. from rte. 109. But, can access Pine St. and the shelter from Great Plain Ave or Needham St. Please see below for directions:
• Take rte. 128 to Great Plain Ave towards Dedham/West Roxbury
• Bare right at the fork alongside St. Susanna’s Church
• We are just about a 1/4 mile down on the right
OR
• Take rte 109 to Needham St
• Go Past the Riverdale School on your right
• Bare left at the fork with St. Susanna’s in front of you
• We are just about a 1/4 mile down of the right

Sunday: 12 pm -5.30 pm (pet adoptions only)
Animal Intake and Surrender (prior appointment necessary):

Cemetery Hours
The cemetery is open for visiting 7 days a week from dawn to dusk. The office is open from Tuesday through Saturday from 9 am to 3:30 pm. We are closed on Sunday and Monday.
