Pup-kin Pick of the Week: Whitey

Whitey is a handsome American bulldog mix. This sweet boy has been at the League’s Brewster branch since May and all he wants is to find a loving home. He is about 1 year and 10 months old and he still has a lot of puppy in him. He loves to play and fetch is his absolute favorite. We can only imagine how much he would enjoy living in a house with a big, safe, fenced in yard.

Whitey gets along very well with people and after a proper introduction, he is fine with most dogs. We believe that he would do best in a home where he would be the only dog, or in a home with a tolerant canine pal, as Whitey can get a little attached to his toys sometimes has trouble sharing. He had lived with a cat in his previous home, but since he tends to play rough, most cats will probably not tolerate him.

This pup becomes rather attached to his human companions and has shown signs of separation anxiety, so he would do best in a home where someone has the time to teach him the benefits of a crate when he’s left alone. He does like to keep himself occupied with chew toys and food puzzles when alone. Most importantly, his cheery disposition is sure to make you smile.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Whitey found this forever home during Adopt-A-Dog-Month? If you think Whitey is the dog for you, please visit him at our Brewster Adoption Center, which is open Tuesday-Friday 10am-4pm and Saturday-Sunday 1pm-4pm. If you’re not in a position to adopt, please spread the word or donate to help us take care of shelter dogs like Whitey.
