The Story of Arli

In celebration of Adopt-A-Dog-Month we’d like to share the touching story of a dog that has grown very dear to us here at the League.

Some of you may remember Arli, the dog who came to us in mid-August covered with fleas and red ants and missing most of her fur, due to illness and exposure to the elements. Thanks to a concerned Arlington resident who had called our own Lt. Alan Borgal about a sickly-looking dog wandering near the local high school, this frightened, 8-year-old mixed-breed female dog was saved. One of our League employees, Deb Vogel, who was on the scene with Lt. Borgal, decided to name her “Arli.”

After being taken in, Arli was brought to a nearby animal hospital where she received treatment for external and internal parasites. Once she was well enough, she came to stay with us at our Boston shelter. Staff provided medicated baths to relieve her itchy skin.  Arli slowly began to come out of her shell, loving to go ‘nose-to-nose’ with her human companions. Employees throughout the League also delighted in sharing stories of her progress, and receiving  frequent  ‘Arli updates’ became a cherished part of the workday.

One of the most moving aspects of Arli’s journey has been the outpouring of support that she has received from the Arligton community and Animal Rescue League supporters, such as yourselves. Your support has helped Arli heal. As you can see, today she is a happy, healthy dog who has a second chance at a good life.

Last week Arli was adopted and went home with her wonderful new owner.

Thanks to your generosity we are able to help dogs like Arli every day.

We hope that you’ll share this story with others and spread the word that October is Adopt-A-Dog-Month

I wish I could buy a Town and call it Animal Love. Where the Animal Rescue League could help more Animals find their Forever Home. I live in FL and found a Mother Cat and 4 Kittens. Brought them to the AC Shelter to hope they would get adopted. We adopted one. The Mother and two Kittens were euthanized, because of overcrowding at the shelter. I still feel sad every day that we should have found a no kill shelter. They were wonderful.

Bless everyone who helped this beautiful girl. She is so full of love!
