Poppy Takes a Bite Out of Crime

At the beginning of the month, we told you about Poppy, a lively Labrador-hound mix. After  being in the League’s care for several months, she was adopted by the Plymouth County’s Sheriff Department. This adoption garnered the pup the cover of the Boston Herald, and now the Cape Cod Times.

“We think she’ll be a good addition to the department,” Police Chief Peter Wack said. “She’s been evaluated and we’ve been told she has all the attributes that predict success.” Poppy will under go a 10-week training period and be cross-trained, enabling the department to use her in narcotics investigations and also searches for lost people.
